My advice to
anyone looking for his next job would be to ignore the job and pay attention to your direct manager, how smart and respected he is in the organization.
Your life in the company depends on your direct subordinate. He (or she) is the one who affects you to the right job along the way, making you a successful employee who has taken up big challenges and successfully achieved the right goals.
As a recruiter, you need to hire people who are better than you: Smarter, more hard working, faster, more experienced and more educated than you are.
That's the only way to make the company better.
Do the opposite and the standard by which your company lives are going south.
It takes balls to recruit people who are smarter than you are because you need the confidence that you will still be able to control their productivity and direct them in managing the appropriate tasks.
Many company directors prefer to recruit people who are easily manageable, even if they are dumb. They bet on making the tasks easier to accomplish and that's a risky decision even though it has work for many companies.
Building a great team takes self-confidence and self-awareness. At the end of the road you've got a team that's able to make profitable, reliable and easy to use systems that can make the business hugely successful and allow filling in the positions with almost anybody.
