Is it possible to get a job in Vietnam if you don't speak Vietnamese?
Yes, of course it is completely possible to get a job in Viet Nam if you can't speak a word of Vietnamese. But let's be honest it will be much harder than if you could speak the local language perfectly.
No summer jobs in Vietnam:
The aren't any summer jobs in Vietnam. Small jobs means small salary: around usd 100 per month. Yes, you read well. A Vietnamese may be able to survive with this kind of salary if he stays at his parents house, which most vietnamese do, but I doubt you would be able to live on your own with this kind of money.
Target high level postions
If you are targetting high level positions, then there is a better chance to get a job if you can not speak vietnamese. The reason for this is that you will be in contact with other employees who speak english and vietnamese and they will pass on your instructions to other employees who do not speak english.
Consequently, the best way to get a job in Vietnam as a non vietnamese speaker is to report directly to the big boss.
Technical knowledge or specific skills:
If you can bring very specialized knowledge to a company, your boss will be more than willing to provide you with a bilingual assistant who will translate for you and learn from you.
The more specialized your skills, the better the chance to get a job. If you are the only person in Vietnam with a set of skills which is on demand then you can be sure that you will get a job.
